VOLUNTARY ANNEXATION PETITION
Annexation Request 2026-01
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Wilkesboro Town Council will hold a Public Hearing on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. in the Town Council Chambers at Wilkesboro Town Hall, 203 West Main Street, Wilkesboro, North Carolina.
The purpose of the hearing is to receive public comment on a petition for voluntary annexation submitted by Wilkes Development Company, LLC, for property located at Gateway Avenue and Olive Drive, near U.S. Highway 421 and Winkler Mill Road (SR 1322), Wilkesboro, North Carolina, in Reddies River Township.
The property is identified as Parcel ID 1508590 and adjoining lands, and consists of approximately 3.226 acres, as shown on the Preliminary Annexation Plat prepared by Survey Pros, PLLC (File No. 26-029, dated February 7, 2026). The property is currently located outside the corporate limits of the Town of Wilkesboro and is contiguous to existing Town limits.
The subject property is described in Deed Book 1142, Page 186, and Deed Book 1350, Page 46, Wilkes County Registry.
The applicant proposes to develop the property as a 64 unit multi-family residential community designed for senior residents.
The annexation request has been submitted pursuant to N.C. General Statutes §160A-31 (Voluntary Annexation). If approved, the property will become subject to the Town of Wilkesboro’s municipal jurisdiction, zoning regulations, and municipal services.
A copy of the annexation petition, legal description, and preliminary plat are available for public inspection in the Planning and Community Development Department at Wilkesboro Town Hall during normal business hours.
All interested citizens are invited to attend and be heard.
